Is it OK to change the split amount by gender?
There are no rules. What tends to cause the least friction is treating it as two groups, more and less, and sharing the reason on the spot. This calculator keeps the labels neutral, but you can map gender onto the two groups as an example.
Can it calculate when the groups have different headcounts?
Yes. Even with different headcounts, it allocates by the per-person ratio. Remainders are adjusted down to the smallest unit, so everyone's total matches the amount exactly.
What if I want three or more groups?
